Golf course guides are not only a help to the avid golfer but also serve as a momento for players to take home, especially as most rounds of golf in Portugal are played by visiting golfers. The design of such guides is a specialist job having to take on board how the fairways and holes are displayed in aerial photography, retouching, marking of distances etc. Atelier do Sul’s most recent project in this area was for Monte Rei Golf & Country Club, recently rated by golfers as the best golf club of Portugal achieving Golfers’ Choice Award 2014. Our congratulations to Monte Rei for yet another outstanding achievement.
Any business needs a befitting logo design, golf courses are no exception. Within the design, consideration must be given to ensure ease of reproduction, maintaining the main design characteristics on everything from Bag-tags to Tee-markers or embroidery, to a Responsive design website (so it can easily be viewed and remain legible on your mobile phone screen). Golf course logos often become collectable status symbols, associated in particular with merchandising sold at the clubhouse shop.
Golf course signs need to be carefully designed, considering only materials that will withstand the wear and tear of outdoor life and consideration for easy removal or upkeep of the course by the green-keepers. Each sign also has to be carefully located, communicating with the player no more than is required at that point, well designed and correctly located signs reduces the need for quantity. A bad golf course sign design project can ruin a beautifully designed course.
